GAR hall in October 1998

Rockland's Grand army of the Republic hall is home to many groups. It is one of the few wooden halls left in the area that is still used for the original intent that is was designed for : namely as a meeting place for Patriotic groups.

Originally used as a meeting place for veterans of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), the tradition is carried on today by being used as a meeting place by the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW),   Camp 50

The cornerstone of the building was laid in 1899. The building will be celebrating the one hundredth anniversary in 1999.
